WGP 2017 NA Nationals
Name: Joon O.
::
First Place
Deck Name: JKTCG.com

Index/Railgun
How was the National? There were a lot of good players attending this year from North America, especially the strong players from my locals, which made the tournament more intense than I would normally expect.
How do you win with your deck? I win with the deck by gaining lots of stock and hand advantage via the 1/0 Mikoto CX combo (RG/WP03-05) for free board setup, the 1/0 Konori (RG/W10-030) for bonus stock, and denying my opponent their Lv 1 and Lv 3 game using the 1/0 Dragon Strike event (ID/W10-021). The mid game plan consists of gaining as much clean stock as possible, and compressing for cancels at Lv 2, while preparing for Lv 3. End game has a huge amount of flexibility with Shot, Burn, Re-Stand, and anti-event effects with varying numbers of my choosing depending on the match. My favorite card in the entire deck, 3/2 Touma (ID/W13-117) offers the most amount of flexibility for my end game, and completely denies certain match ups due to it being untargetable, having 3 soul, and being able to give any character an additional soul.
Any shoutouts? Some of you might be wondering why I'm running the 3/2 Mikoto early play (RG/WP03-07) now. A good friend of mine, Mike C., strongly suggested I put in one copy for the bad match up (Vivid-Strike). However, the card was insignificant the entire tournament; just as I expected. For me, the card was too inconsistent, while not actually doing anything in most cases. I believe the deck slot can be better utilized to improve the consistency in other parts of the deck, such as the Lv 0 game. My employee Mike C. was only able to grab 3rd place last year, so I decided to come this year while he holds down the fort for the shop (JKTCG) and take 1st place. He is a great friend that has helped me play test for hours in order to prepare for this tournament, so lots of credit to him!
