"Rena Protecc and Attacc" (Higurashi)
How was the event?
The event was off to a rough start with an early loss due an epic yet unfortunate turnaround of events that would be worthy of an anime episode's featured match, but I was able to pull through and played my cards right to maximize my chances of success in subsequent games to push me into a smaller top cut than in previous events! Many thanks to the awesome team at Heart of the Cards to pave forth this opportunity for us in North America to enjoy this newer TCG product from Bushiroad! My fellow participants also deserve some thanks for making the event overall enjoyable especially with some of the weather we are experiencing in some areas on this continent, brrrr! Also, I thought I was gonna have to stop my makeup routine mid-way to be on time for the event, but at the behest of my teammates, I was able to get properly dressed up as Rena Ryuuguu for the event and still have some time to spare!
How do you win?
I aim to prove Rena Ryuuguu is a very capable young girl who can hold her own in battle and when protecting her friends. Getting more serious, I do my best to activate my Blockers of Keiichi, Battle to Save Allies and Rika, Ideal School Life as early in the game as possible to have them in my waiting room both to minimize damage and to recur them back into my hand for subsequent activations via the abilities of Hidden Thoughts and Rena, Reuniting Club Members.
I supplement this Blocker recursion strategy alongside Satoko Houjou and Keiichi, Hinamizawa that Nobody Knows to keep proper tabs on my opponent's ability to deal lasting damage to me. Rena, Hinamizawa that Nobody Knows is also a powerful way to push damage or even close out games by allowing upwards of 2 Partner Attacks. Board cleanup via the tripartite of sacrifice outlets of Keiichi, Hinamizawa that Nobody Knows; Rena, Self-Sacrificing Girl; and Rena, Sharp Insight also help to ensure I can activate Rena, Reuniting Club Members to recur Blockers while also opening up member slots for additional Entry-In attempts.

I would like to give a shoutout to the amazing folks across both the Rebirth for You TCG Global Community on both Discord and Facebook for continuing to display their passion for the game and for fostering an active discussion forum! Our interactions with one another about current and upcoming products as well as deck and gameplay strategy really help one another to grow and develop as players! Moving from there, I would like to give special shoutouts to my trio of playtesting partners: Rikka T., Darkness, and AndyCaly. These folks have helped me realize there were major structural flaws with a different deck idea for Higurashi, and they helped me consolidate my gameplay sequencing with the current deck you see attached to this interview! These three individuals continue to keep me wanting to play the game and to do my absolute best in achieving a high performance in these events! Last but not least, I also gotta thank the rest of the Chuuni Clan team, whose lineup we have expanded with more dedicated and talented individuals in the year since, and the Chuuni Clan community for their support for me even through the toughest of times!
